Module 3

CAD/CAM FOR SINGLE AND MULTI-UNIT PROSTHESES Upcoming

This module comprehensively explores the protocols for fabricating prostheses on natural teeth and implants by integrating digital workflows, particularly via scan abutments or markers, while emphasizing clinical analysis tailored to each situation; it introduces the foundations of digital modeling (points, point clouds, meshing) and provides hands-on immersion in Exocad software, including crown design with precise identification of the margin line and mastery of digital parameters; participants will learn to assess the quality of intraoral scans, detect flaws, and decide between chairside or laboratory production, while selecting the appropriate CAD/CAM materials according to prosthetic indications; the module also integrates hands-on workshops, notions of posturology, and the use of the electronic bite registration system for a functional and comprehensive approach.

  • Protocols and procedures for fabricating prosthetics on natural teeth.
  • Protocols and procedures for fabricating implant prosthetics using the scan-abutment or marker approach.
  • Analysis appropriate to the protocol.
  • Definition of points, point clouds, and mesh.
  • Exocad software demonstration.
  • Evaluation of intraoral scans and recognition of defects.
  • CAD modeling in the dental practice: what can be produced in-office and when it is preferable to use the dental laboratory.
  • Crown design with finish line recognition and attention to digital parameters.
  • Properties of CAD/CAM materials and material selection based on prosthetic challenges.
  • Practical exercises - Exocad software
  • Posturology.
  • Digital bite mapping.

🎯 Learning objectives

  • Master protocols for prostheses on natural teeth and implants in digital workflow
  • Understand 3D modeling (points, point clouds, mesh) and use Exocad
  • Assess the quality of intraoral scans and identify defects
  • Design crowns with precision (margin line, digital parameters)
  • Choose appropriate CAD/CAM materials for clinical situations

Prerequisites

  • Foundations in fixed and implant dental prosthetics
  • Knowledge of occlusion and dental anatomy
  • Understanding of digital workflows in dentistry
  • Familiarity with computer tools and software
  • Minimal clinical experience in prosthetic preparation and impression

DSD AND DENTAL PHOTOGRAPHY Upcoming

This module addresses the foundations and applications of digital dental photography as an essential tool for communication, diagnosis, and aesthetic planning; it details the key parameters of image capture and the various equipment options (cameras and smartphones) suited to the dental practice, before offering hands-on sessions to master clinical photography techniques; it also introduces the Digital Smile Design (DSD) concept through dedicated software, allowing participants to perform an aesthetic smile analysis and design digital smile projects in a concrete and applied manner.

  • Digital dental photography.
  • Camera parameters and equipment.
  • Smartphone use in the dental practice.
  • Practical training - Photography.
  • Digital smile preview.
  • Digital smile design software.
  • Practical training - Digital smile design.

🎯 Learning objectives

  • Master the basics of digital dental photography (framing, exposure, protocols)
  • Understand camera settings and smartphone use in the practice
  • Perform quality clinical photographs for diagnosis and communication
  • Discover Digital Smile Design (DSD) tools and smile esthetic analysis
  • Design digital smile projects using dedicated software

Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge of dental anatomy and smile esthetics
  • General knowledge of restorative or cosmetic dentistry
  • Familiarity with using a camera or smartphone
  • Basic computer skills (simple software)
  • Interest in visual communication and esthetic planning
